Veterinary Technician

WEEKEND OVERNIGHT & SWING SHIFT VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

We are currently recruiting dedicated and knowledgeable weekend overnight and swing shift veterinary technicians to join our growing team!

All Valley Animal Care Center is located in the every growing area of Meridian, Idaho, just minutes down Interstate 84 from downtown Boise, Idaho. The 23,000 square foot hospital provides full veterinary care as well as 24 hour emergency services. The center is also associated with a 24/7 deluxe boarding facility, a rescue and two full service general service veterinary clinics in the Boise area. 

Our Full Time Veterinary Technician Position consists of the following duties:

- Preparing and administering medications (oral and injection) and completing specific treatments for each patient as directed

- Assist with admission of new patients by placing IV catheters, collecting blood/urine as needed for testing

- TPR all exam rooms during your scheduled shift

- Prepare animals for surgery and perform pre and post surgical observations of animals while reporting condition changes

- Performing general patient husbandry by preparing food, taking patients for walks, performing bladder expressions and bathing as needed

- Review discharge instructions with clients

- Provide outstanding customer service to clients

- Be the liaison between the doctors, back room techs and the front desk staff

- Provide consistent quality customer service to every client and patient

- Have excellent customer service skills

- Work independently

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Knowledge of restraint, handling and husbandry of small animals

- Knowledge of veterinary medical and surgical practices and procedures

- Maintain records and compile statistical reports

- Adapt to new and constantly changing situations and environments

- Ability to lift animals onto a table (50-60 lbs individually)

- Skill in operating medical equipment

- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction

Education & Experience Qualifications:

- HS diploma or equivalent

- Minimum 2 years experience as a Veterinary Technician; CVT preferred

- Ability to lift 50+ pounds

- Must have Mac/PC skills, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Experience with VIA veterinary software is a plus

LaRae Richards

LaRae was born in Denver, Colorado, but made the move to Idaho following her graduation from the University of Colorado. During her time in college, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and also participated in a number of extracurricular activities, internships and community service projects. She is excited to learn more about the pet industry and contribute her skills to the All Valley Animal Care Center team.

When LaRae’s not working on events or advertisement campaigns, she enjoys spending time with her very sweet “son,” Breutus, a 1 year mixed dog. She enjoys going on hikes and being outdoors with her little family and is excited to see what Idaho has to offer!
