Abbey Burgess, D.V.M.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine


Dr. Abbey Burgess was born and raised in Twin Falls where she aspired to be a veterinarian from a young age. Dr. Burgess went to college at the University of Idaho, where she earned her undergraduate degree and played on the women's rugby team.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology before continuing on to Washington State University to earn her veterinary degree (DVM). During veterinary school, Dr. Burgess worked on several research projects, including cardiology studies on grizzly bears and exercise physiology studies with Thoroughbred horses. Dr. Burgess graduated from WSU and moved to Denver, Colorado, where she was chosen for a specialty rotating internship at a large emergency hospital. Following completion of the internship, Dr. Burgess became a doctor at AVACC where she is happy to be back in her home state. Her professional interests include emergency and critical care medicine, internal medicine, and oncology. In her free time, Dr. Burgess enjoys the Idaho wilderness by camping, hiking, and stand-up paddleboarding. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Cameron, and their two dogs, Bear (a corgi mix) and Roo (a pit bull mix).
