Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Jessica Loweth was born and raised in Northern Virginia. Her love of animals started at a very young age – wanting to be a veterinarian since she was 3 years old! Dr. Loweth earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2010 from Longwood University, after which she moved to the Caribbean to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts. She completed her clinical training at Colorado State University in 2014.
After graduation, Dr. Loweth moved to Tucson, Arizona to complete a one year specialty small animal surgery-focused rotating internship. After completion of her first internship in June 2015, she was chosen for a specialty small animal surgical internship in Tacoma, Washington, which she completed in June 2016. Just prior to joining AVACC, Dr. Loweth spent 6 months as a marine animal veterinarian for the United States Navy, a position she is excited to continue for many years to come.
After many moves around the country, Dr. Loweth currently resides in Meridian with her boyfriend and their two dogs, Marley - a Coconut Retriever from St. Kitts, and Roux - a boisterous Beauceron, as well as a cat named Taco and a flock of backyard chickens. Her professional interests include orthopedic evaluation and surgery, arthritis management and rehabilitation/physical therapy, nutrition and weight loss, and of course, surgery. She also loves emergency medicine and working up tough cases. In her free time, Dr. Loweth enjoys spending time enjoying the Idaho outdoors and is eager to start traveling the world.
Dr. Loweth is our Student Externship Coordinator for fourth year veterinary students throughout the year, who you might meet during one of your visits. Be sure to also catch Dr. Loweth on our KBOI 2's 'Your Pet 2Day' segments with helpful pet tips!
